Antioquia and Accelerator
The Rev. Danny Román-Gloró, D.Min., Ph.D., is a theologian, preacher, and biblical interpreter recognized as one of the most influential scholars at the intersection of communication and theology in the United States. As a pastor and teacher, he has drawn on his extensive experience in the global church to establish himself as a prophetic voice in Latino faith communities across the country. Before joining AETH, he served as an Assistant Professor of Preaching and Ministry and Associate Director of the Latino Church Studies program at the School of Ministry at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Prior to Palm Beach Atlantic, Danny was the director of the Asbury Latino Center at Asbury Theological Seminary. Before entering theological education, he served as a pastor in Boston, Chicago, and Miami for 23 years. In addition to his work for AETH, he is an Affiliate Professor of Preaching at the E. Stanley Jones School of Mission and Ministry at Asbury Theological Seminary, an Adjunct Professor in the Hispanic House of Studies at United Theological Seminary (Dayton), and an Adjunct Professor of Intercultural Communication at the School of Communication and the Arts at Liberty University. What are you passionate about regarding your role at AETH?
I believe there are three realities that make AETH indispensable at this moment: more than ever, the Hispanic/Latino Church needs leaders—both ordained and lay—who are educated and trained to think theologically. Second, theological education is changing, and the educational models that have historically dominated are no longer effective or valid for the needs of the Church. AETH is envisioning and cultivating new models to replace those currently in decline and will develop new avenues for theological education within the Hispanic/Latino Church. Third, Antioquía can serve as the catalyst for developing the next generation of leaders for the Hispanic/Latino Church.
